The Domino effects on Barisan Nasional

Although now that this 12th general election is done and gone; however the aftereffects could still be felt at various grassroots levels ranging from rumored defection of elected representatives to underperformed party’s leaders being asked to make way for new leadership.

Before this 12th election, one of HINDRAF movement’s streets demonstrations agendas were that MIC President Datuk Seri Samy Vellu to make way; for failing to upheld the rights and privileges of Malaysian Hindus. However Sam resisted with all sorts of lame excuses and reasoning.

Immediately after the tsunami results were announced, what followed were Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi himself as the supreme leader of UMNO and Barisan coalition were asked to “do the right thing-resign” by youth triumphant Datuk Mukhriz, who also happened to be former premier Tun Dr. Mahathir’s son .

Today, MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Kah Teng has also faced the same fate, with grassroots level echoing him to resign; even though he has chosen not to hold on to any federal ministerial post.

These youth grassroots retaliated that Ong should have retained his Housing & Local Government Minister post and instead step down the MCA presidency to other more “capable” candidates. According to these opposition voices within, Ong’d failed to listen to grassroots’ suggestions on proposed candidacy and policy makings pertaining to various Malaysian Chinese issues. Henceforth, he ought to be held responsible & accountable to this disastrous outing and they can’t see any other options for Ong not to resign.

Alike the song above, the silence ones, calmed before the “ tsunami” storm had indeed existed amongst these coalition’s grassroots level long before the election; awaiting for a right timing to “explode” the storm!

Personally speaking, so long as these coalition leaders would not want to step aside and make way, their parties faced identity crisis where these leaders were the symbols, reasons, causes and blames of the aforesaid defeats. It would take a long long time before these wounds could be healed.
